What Must I Do to Be Saved?

1 John  3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth (breaks) also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

The law of God is given to us in His Word (The Bible).  Examples of transgressing or breaking God's law include things like lying, stealing, cheating, murder, anger, adultery, coveting, and more as outlined in the 10 Commandments.  

James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend (sin) in one point, he is guilty of all.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

John 8:34 ...Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

All of mankind is in bondage of sin.

Romans 6:23 For the wages (payment/penalty) of sin is death;

Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die.

The penalty for sin is not death as we often think of it, but our body and soul cast into hell fire, the eternal lake of fire. (Matthew 10:28)  A righteous God cannot let sin go unpunished and therefore must judge the wrongs of mankind.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 

Romans 5:8-9 - 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

John 3:16 - 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Jesus Christ, God's Son, died on the cross for the sins of the world.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us,

We cannot pay our sin debt through works, but only by accepting the good news by faith.

Romans 10:9-10 - 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Hebrews 3:7-8 -  Wherefore as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,  Harden not your hearts,...

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
