For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve...
Mark 10:45
We serve because Jesus first served us. Through service we have the opportunity to glorify God, to care for others, and to participate in God’s work in our community. We encourage everyone to find a place to serve.

Serve in our church
Use your unique gifts to help build the Kingdom.
We believe part of living your purpose includes serving in the local church. We know God designed you with unique gifts, passions, and talents, and we want to help you find a place to use them.
Galatians 5:13-14 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Volunteer FAQ
How do I volunteer?
Volunteering is easy! Elmwood is constantly looking for volunteers to help with ministries for Our Lord's kingdom. God provides each of His children with spiritual gifts to serve His kingdom through the local church. 1 Peter 4:10 teaches, "As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God". Whether it be serving with finances, facilities, media, music or ministries, Elmwood is seeking willing servants to help improve, grow and glorify God's kingdom through the local church, all with the goal of reaching the community with the gospel of Christ.
How do I volunteer with kids?
Elmwood is passionate about partnering with families to help raise kids who love and serve Christ. Our caring leaders ensure that your children are taught biblical truths in a fun and loving environment. Our team of workers strive to create an engaging environment for children to learn about Jesus and be nurtured in the Lord. Every week, our dedicated team illuminates the Word of God through age-appropriate lessons, crafts, and playtime. Throughout the year we offer Children and Jr Church, Vacation Bible School (VBS), Summer Programs and Jr. Camp, Our Master Club ministry meets every Wednesday at 7pm and Good News Club every Tuesday after school during the school year. For information on how to help with our youth ministries, see Anthony Adkins or Anna Poston.
How do I volunteer with music?
Do you find yourself wanting to burst forth in heartfelt praise to God for who He is and what He’s done for you? Singing praises to God is a vital part of prayer. David, the great giant slayer and the man after God’s heart sang many of his prayers to the Lord (Psalm 47:6). At Elmwood Baptist Church we have a traditional choir that is open to all ages. In addition, we offer choir for teens and for youth. For those who love music, we offer opportunities for special music and have a bell choir for youth. If you or your children are interested in one of these musical opportunities please see Ranny Hyatt for traditional choir or Carrie Blankenship, Julie Bowen, or Amy Sanns for youth, teen or bell choir.
How do I volunteer with Teens?
At Elmwood we believe every generation has the responsibility to reach the next generation! We desire to see teens rise up and fulfill the call of God that is on their life. In scripture we see the youth make great IMPACT for the kingdom of God through faith and dedication. Examples like Joseph, David and Daniel demonstrate teens in their day being used mightily by The Lord. At Elmwood, we strive to create opportunities for teens to know God through a personal relationship with Christ and faithfully follow Him by experiencing loving discipleship and applicable biblical teaching to help them cope with the tribulations of the world. Our purpose is to teach teens to IMPACT the world around them through their daily walk with Christ and sharing God's love to the rest of the world. For information on how to help with our teen ministries, see Joe or Kim Hinchman.
