Pastors & Staff

Rick Glass

senior Pastor

Since 1984 I have had the honor and privilege of serving as the Senior Pastor of Elmwood Missionary Baptist Church.

Over the past 130 years the Lord has truly blessed this church and its generations of families. It has always truly been a family oriented church, reaching young and old.

The main vision at Elmwood has always been to see people saved and then training them in the Christian Faith, so they could also lead others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. (2 Tim. 2:2)

We stand without apology for “The Faith once delivered to the saints.” (Jude 1:3) This church has held, and with God’s help will always hold, to the fundamental, essential truths of the Scriptures.

Deacon Board

Ranny Hyatt

chair of Deacon board & choir director

The Board of Deacons are here to support the ministry led by the Pastor and to be watchmen against attack by all adversaries of the faith and scriptures.

At Elmwood Baptist Church we have a traditional choir comprised of saved individuals of various ages who wish to serve the Lord with their musical talents.  The goal of all our music is to be Christ centered and Biblically supported.

Anthony Adkins

deacon & Master club director

The youth are the future of our church and it is the responsibility of the members to teach them how to serve once they accept Christ as Lord and Savior. Master Clubs provides Baptist churches with the King James-based resources to help effectively teach and train the youth to serve the Master.
“…For one is your Master, even Christ.” Matthew 23:10

Don Jordan

deacon & sunday school superintendent

Sunday School is one of the more neglected ministries in today's society, but it is critical to the growth of the Christian.  We live in a very busy culture that struggles to make church services and in that they may have also forgotten the value of Sunday School.  The Bible teaches in Ephesians 4:11-14, "and he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;"  Why did God do this?  It goes on to say, "For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying (growing) of the body of Christ:  Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:  That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;"  Without programs like Sunday School to ground us in scripture, our churches will continue to produce weak Christians.

Claude (Budge) Cremeans

deacon & Assistant sunday school superintendent & youth Leader

As deacons our focus is to stay true to God's Word, be servants to the congregation, and be helpmates to the pastor in caring out his ministries.

Our teen ministry is Christ centered, teaching our youth in accordance with Proverbs 22:6:  Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Gerald (Jerry) Lake

deacon & mission board chair

Jesus tells us what our attitude should be towards missions in Mark 15:16, "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."  If we are to be in tune with Jesus, we need to be obedient to His Word.  I believe God blesses mission-minded churches.

Erich Caldwell

deacon & song leader & finance committee

O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.  Psalm 95:1

Todd Black

deacon & youth Worker

Surrendering to God’s call to serve as a deacon has been a blessing and it’s an honor to serve God and my church through the teen ministry.

Brandon Stewart

deacon & youth Worker

Honored to serve those that have faithfully served Elmwwod for so many years while leading and encouraging today's youth to be today's church.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Dustan Jordan

My calling as a trustee was one of service to the pastor, deacons and fellow trustees with the goal of assisting with the functional duties of the church.  When fellowshipping with my brothers and sisters in Christ, I am always excited to see their joy by God's blessings.

Mike Johnson

My desire as a trustee is always to do my best to serve God and to be faithful in what needs to be taken care of in the church.  I strive to put God first, others next, and myself last.

Other Ministry Leaders

Joe  & Kim Hinchman

youth directors

We serve the church in youth ministry to support and create experiences that help young people grow in their relationship with Christ, that they remain faithful Christians into adulthood.

Anna Poston

good news club director

Every Tuesday, when school is in session, Elmwood Baptist Church sponsors Good News Club, an after school program at Martha Elementary School which is located adjacent to the church.  The purpose of Good News Club is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and establish (disciple) them in the Word of God and in a local church for Christian living.

Valerie King

youth & missions activities director

It is important that children learn from a young age of salvation through Christ only.  As the church we desire for them to see the fun and enjoyment in fellowship with the local church and fellow Christians.  Also, to be mission minded in their service as they grow.

Julie Bowen

youth choir & Master club leader (6th grade)

I've played the piano/organ in church since I was little and have always had a desire for worshiping God through music.  I instruct our children's choir, which consists of a vocal/bell choir, where children ages 4-teens learn to praise God in song.  I also enjoy working with the children in our Master Club where I, along with my husband, lead the 6th  grade students.  We strive to bring the gospel to children to learn and grow in their faith in Jesus Christ.

Amy Sanns

youth choir

I love working with the children at Elmwood.  Showing them how to follow Christ is my main goal.  I teach Sunday School, work with the children's choir, and serve in Master Club.  My service for the Lord is just a small contribution towards spreading the gospel.
