Deacon Board
Ranny Hyatt
chair of Deacon board & choir director
The Board of Deacons are here to support the ministry led by the Pastor and to be watchmen against attack by all adversaries of the faith and scriptures.
At Elmwood Baptist Church we have a traditional choir comprised of saved individuals of various ages who wish to serve the Lord with their musical talents. The goal of all our music is to be Christ centered and Biblically supported.

The youth are the future of our church and it is the responsibility of the members to teach them how to serve once they accept Christ as Lord and Savior. Master Clubs provides Baptist churches with the King James-based resources to help effectively teach and train the youth to serve the Master.

Don Jordan
deacon & sunday school superintendent
Sunday School is one of the more neglected ministries in today's society, but it is critical to the growth of the Christian. We live in a very busy culture that struggles to make church services and in that they may have also forgotten the value of Sunday School. The Bible teaches in Ephesians 4:11-14, "and he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;" Why did God do this? It goes on to say, "For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying (growing) of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;" Without programs like Sunday School to ground us in scripture, our churches will continue to produce weak Christians.
Claude (Budge) Cremeans
deacon & Assistant sunday school superintendent & youth Leader
As deacons our focus is to stay true to God's Word, be servants to the congregation, and be helpmates to the pastor in caring out his ministries.
Our teen ministry is Christ centered, teaching our youth in accordance with Proverbs 22:6: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Gerald (Jerry) Lake
deacon & mission board chair
Jesus tells us what our attitude should be towards missions in Mark 15:16, "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." If we are to be in tune with Jesus, we need to be obedient to His Word. I believe God blesses mission-minded churches.

My calling as a trustee was one of service to the pastor, deacons and fellow trustees with the goal of assisting with the functional duties of the church. When fellowshipping with my brothers and sisters in Christ, I am always excited to see their joy by God's blessings.
