The Mission
The mission of Elmwood Missionary Baptist Church is the same mission Jesus gave his followers: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
The Vision
The vision of Elmwood Missionary Baptist Church is to create a community of authentic believers and to witness a community transformed by the life changing power of the gospel, as people come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
1. We prioritize the gospel above all.
2. We do whatever it takes to reach all people.
The gospel is the power for all that we do. The gospel shapes every aspect of our mission, and the gospel alone provides the basis for our unity. In everything that we do, we seek to remove distractions from the gospel, making the gospel as clear and as compelling as possible.
2. We do whatever it takes to reach all people.
In the parable of the lost sheep, Jesus said there would be more rejoicing over one sinner who repented than of the 99 who were already in the fold. Because he prioritized those outside the fold in his ministry, we prioritize them in ours, constantly asking what we can do to bring the gospel to more people.
3. We make disciples, not just converts.
The final command Jesus gave his disciples was to make disciples, teaching them to observe all that he had commanded. Jesus also teaches in John 15:16, "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain." In addition, Paul teaches young Timothy, "And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also" (2 Timothy 2:2) So at Elmwood, we are committed to developing and discipling all those God has entrusted. By investing in the individual, we help them grow in the Lord and also prepare them to impact others.
Connect with us.
At Elmwood Missionary Baptist Church, we grow our ministries around the characteristics of discipleship. According to scripture, every disciple is (1) a born again child of God, (2) learning to worship in spirit and truth, (3) serving others, (4) a good steward of God’s provided resources, and (5) a living witness of Christ to the world.
